positive connections drum circles

Sandra Koski

I have been playing guitar and singing in Southern New Hampshire since the late 1960s, both in solo performances and with bands - most notably the all-female Seacoast rock band Lucky Mary (2003-2009). More recently I have focused on performing at local farmers’ markets including Derry Homegrown Farm & Artisan Market and the Winter Farmers’ Market at Wentworth Greenhouses, along with markets in Exeter, Deerfield and Northwood.

Though guitar has been my primary instrument for almost 50 years, I find drums have been incredibly therapeutic for me, both personally and in communal drumming environments. I am certified in Remo’s HealthRHYTHMS Group Empowerment Drumming and have been facilitating drum circles at festivals and in private homes since 2017. One of my favorite parts when facilitating is seeing people who are new to drumming relax, smile and laugh as the drumming session progresses.

ABOUT positive connections DRUM CIRCLES

Social connection and having fun are the primary goals of Positive Connections Drum Circles. All experience levels are welcome.

In a typical hour-long session, we start with learning some basic rhythms, then play a few drum circle games and drum meditations.

All drums and percussion instruments will be provided and are specifically chosen for a balanced drum circle. Please keep your personal instruments at home.

All instruments are sanitized between sessions.

Group drumming enables the energy, strength and conviction needed for taking an active and meaningful role in one's healing process amidst extraordinary challenges.

Drumming with others elevates your mood and builds up your immune system!
